Dojo Rules and Regulations

Traditional JKA Karate is a contact and high risk sport and the possibility of injury is a foreseeable consequence. Ensure you are medically fit to participate.

All Student’s must sign a membership application/ disclaimer before training commences.

Safety in and around the Dojo is of the utmost importance especially regarding small children, all students are bound by the rules and regulations of the association.

All students must register with the JKA within one month of enrolment. (This fee is non returnable)

1.
Maintain high standards; observe all the customs and traditions, of this top martial art.
2.
Respect the Dojo, your instructor and fellow students with the Ossu! Greeting.
3.
Bow when entering or leaving the Dojo or training session.
4.
The instructor must be called Sensei at all times in the Dojo.
5.
Fees must be paid in advance on the night.
6.
Be punctual; arrive at least 10 minutes before the lesson starts. Latecomers must kneel down at the door and wait to be invited to join in with training, the same applies when excused for the toilet.
7.
Remember to bow when acknowledged to re commence training.
8.
Training records must be presented and signed at every training session; there will be no marking up. Your training must be twice a week minimum.
9.
Proper uniform (DOGI) must be worn in the Dojo and kept clean at all times. Ladies and small children are allowed to wear a white tee shirt under the DOGi.
10.
Only the official club badge may be worn on the top left hand side of the Jacket.
11.
Personal Hygiene and cleanliness must be observed, especially the feet.
12.
No chewing, eating, smoking, bad language. Good manners are essential.
13.
Ask permission to leave the training session by raising your hand, ie sickness, toilet, drinks etc. Do not eat a large meal within one hour of training and drink water before commencing training.
14.
Spectators are also bound by the rules and regulations of the Dojo.
15.
Parents of young children are responsible to ensure the safety of their child to and from the Dojo.
16.
Gradings are possible four times a year by instructor invitation only, after all the criteria have been met. This does not guarantee a pass.
17.
All seminars held locally with visiting instructors must be attended without exception.
18.
Students are under no contract and can terminate their membership at any time and with no financial penalty.

Continued breach of rules will lead to suspension.
The Dojo Instructor has the sole right to terminate membership at any time.

This Dojo is Registered with Japan Karate Association(JKA).
